To elderly residents of Dandinghe Community in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, volunteer Liu Ning is a "sharing daughter".
Over the past seven years, as the director of a public service center in Dandinghe Community, Liu has been offering a wide range of services for elderly residents in the area, including hairdressing, house cleaning, and healthcare services. During festivals and holidays, Liu and her volunteer team send gifts.
To better serve the elderly, Liu has also learned various skills, such as haircutting, pedicuring, and cooking.
She treats the elderly residents as if they were her own parents. As a result, they think of her as a daughter and more people have begun lending a hand to the elderly.
To date, nearly 50 volunteers have worked in the center and more than 120 voluntary activities are held annually.
"It gives us a sense of satisfaction to help the elderly residents," said Liu, "And I will keep serving them in the future."
Talking about her expectations for the following five years, Liu added that the community will be smarter and more convenient for the elderly and the elderly care service industry will be better prepared to provide a happy and comfortable life for them.
