The Banbian Mountain Tourism Resort in Ningbo's Xiangshan county, one of the competition venues for the upcoming Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, joined the digital renminbi, or e-CNY, trials in China on April 13.

The resort is set to host the Games' beach volleyball events. The C-shaped sports stadium built just for the Games spans 4,400 square meters and can accommodate 2,000 spectators.

This September, 164 athletes from 25 countries and regions will compete for two gold medals at the Asian Games' beach volleyball competition.

People can now use the digital yuan wallet to pay transport fees as well as certain expenses at the resort. Payment scenarios related to the Asian Games will be rolled out soon.

The People's Bank of China, the nation's central bank, on April 2 released the list of new regions taking part in the e-CNY trials.

Among them are the six Chinese cities-Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing and Jinhua – that will be involved in the 19th Asian Games this September.
