Haichuang Community in Ningbo, Zhejiang province launched a talent service station, the first of its kind in the city, to help local residents find jobs and start their own businesses.

With more than 20,000 permanent residents, Haichuang Community in Xiaying subdistrict, Yinzhou district is one of the largest communities in the city. Most of residents are in their 30s and 40s.

"We've conducted a survey on what our residents need and found that they seek jobs, training for the unemployed and talent policies," said Xu Boping, Party secretary of Haichuang Community, "And we also learned that many companies in Xiaying subdistrict are worried about the labor shortage. That's why we want to build a bridge between the two.”

To tackle the problem and better serve local residents as well as companies, a talent service station was launched in the community.

A market has been set up in the station, offering the latest employment information.

"In addition to job recruitment, the market also offers information about catering and housing sales and rentals, added Xu.

In the station, a space was built for people who start their own businesses, which includes an all-day self-study room, a meeting room for salons and forums and a studio with live-streaming devices.

Yuan Zhenzhen, a baker, livestreams baking classes every week in the studio.

"It's fulfilling to do what I'm interested in," said Yuan.

To strengthen the connection between talent and the community, Haichuang Community also launched a mutual assistance platform which collects wide range of problems from residents and distributes them to corresponding volunteers.

To date, nearly 500 people from all walks of life have joined the volunteer team, including teachers, scholars, medical workers, and mechanics, and more than 600 problems have been solved.
