Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province on June 2 unveiled a guideline regarding accelerating the development of its digital cultural industry, local media reported.

The guideline, the first policy of its kind by a prefecture-level city in Zhejiang, contains 19 specific measures and is expected to inject new vitality to the city's cultural industry.

According to the document, the city aims to lift the output value of enterprises above designated size in the digital cultural industry to 50 billion yuan ($7.69 billion) by 2025.

It has also set the target of building three to five digital cultural industrial clusters and 10 digital cultural industrial parks, as well as bringing in or cultivating 100 enterprises above designated size and helping one or two to go public.

The cultural industry is currently an important engine driving economic growth in China, according to experts.

Ningbo aims to spearhead the nation's digital cultural development and will primarily focus on digital creativity, digital publishing, digital entertainment, and online broadcasting, said an official at the publicity department of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee.
