4 Ningbo places among top 100 counties for tourism development

Four places from Ningbo - Xiangshan county, the county-level city of Cixi, Ninghai couty and the county-level city of Yuyao - made it to the 2022 list of the top 100 counties (county-level cities) in China in terms of comprehensive tourism strength.

Xiangshan was ranked fourth, while Cixi, Ninghai and Yuyao were ranked 28th, 32nd and 48th respectively, according to a report recently released by a Beijing-based consultancy.

Located at a latitude of 30 degrees north, the coastal city of Xiangshan is studded with islands and beaches.

The report evaluated 1,866 counties on the Chinese mainland based on their tourism revenue, facilities and services, as well as quality and market supervision. 

Thirty-five places from Zhejiang made the top 100 list, the most out of all provinces in the nation. Seven places in Zhejiang were listed among the top 10.

In 2021, counties (county-level cities) in China received an average of 4.38 million tourists and generated 3.62 billion yuan ($556.92 million) in annual revenue on average, rebounding to 84.39 percent and 80.95 percent of the levels in 2019 respectively, according to the report.
