The China Daily Readers' Club has been an important platform to help foreigners in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, experience the pulse of the city's development.

The second festival for club fans was held in Yuyao, a county-level city in Ningbo, on Saturday, attracting expats from all walks of life, including students, teachers and businesspeople.

During the event, they harvested waxberries in an orchard, learned about intangible cultural heritage and watched an extravaganza presented by a kung fu master, as well as a Yaoju Opera performance with expats. Yaoju Opera is a form of Chinese opera that originated in the Ningbo area.

"Last year, I met a lot of new friends. We attended many events together to learn about Ningbo's history and culture," said Giovanni Battista Belleri, one of the overseas communication officers for Ningbo. "The China Daily Readers' Club gave us a great opportunity to be here together today, not only to visit Yuyao but also let us know that reading habits matter no matter when."

The China Daily Readers' Club (Ningbo) was launched in April, last year. At the launch ceremony, expats from Italy, South Africa, Iran, Canada and the United Kingdom were named overseas communication officers for Ningbo. They are encouraged to share their stories about the city.
