A pop-up coffee shop opened in Jiangshan town, Ningbo on June 23, the first of its kind to be located in one of the city's villages. It will remain open for 118 days, the duration of the lotus blossom season.

The shop, entitled "Hetang Coffee" or "Lotus Pond Coffee", is located near a lotus pond at the Zoumatang Scenic Area. With the height of summer nearly here, lotus flowers in the pond are currently blooming, attracting many visitors.

Two young baristas work in the shop, which is managed by Wu Dongri.

"Our team has been promoting rural vitalization in recent years. The two baristas are members of our team," said Wu, "Last year, they visited Zoumatang for the first time and fell in love with the area. That's why we opened Hetang Coffee."

Wu added that Zoumatang is a place with a rich history and culture, which his team hopes to make full use of.

"Many elderly residents like to make 'muliandong' (a jelly-like dessert made of creeping figs). We add it in our coffee," said Wu.

Inspired by the blooming lotus flowers, they also make lotus-shaped pastries.
