In recent years, Luting township in Yuyao, a county-level city in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, has been developing a "cellophane noodle economy" to help increase locals' incomes.

Residents of Lunting keep making cellophane noodles in traditional ways in autumn.

Fresh sweet potatoes are made into crystal noodles after seven processes, including washing, crushing, filtration, pulping, steaming, shredding, and drying. The whole production takes four to five days. The finished cellophane noodles feature a crystal color and chewy taste.

To bring more added value to the noodles and promote shared prosperity, Luting township has built a high-quality cellophane-noodle souvenir by improving quality control, purchasing produce from villagers, and packaging them under a united brand, "Luting".

In 2021, more than 100,000 kilograms of cellophane noodles were produced in Luting, totaling over 10 million yuan ($13.8 million).
