As the venue for sailing competitions of the 19th Asian Games, the Xiangshan Asian Games Sailing Center in Ningbo, Zhejiang province has been recognized by sailing experts.
Li Quanhai, president of World Sailing, and David Glenn Brookes and Arshad Abdur Rehman, technical delegates for the sailing event of the upcoming Asian Games, visited the Xiangshan Asian Games Sailing Center on April 5 to inspect the competition site and preparations for the games. They said it is the perfect place for the games.
"We didn't find anything missing here. It's great for sailing. I think everything here is at the highest standard," said Rehman.
Li has already visited the center many times. He said that the facility meets international standards and hopes that it will serve more high-level water sports events after the 19th Asian Games.
"Ningbo has hosted many sailing events and training sessions, such as the China Family Sailing Race. I believe more and more people will engage in the sports, which will create more opportunities for the Xiangshan Asian Games Sailing Center," Li said.
The Xiangshan Asian Games Sailing Center is unlike other Asian Games venues. Half the center is located on land and the other on the sea. The sailing competitions of the Asian Games will be held at the center from Sept 19 to 27.
