Centenarian online shopping lover in Ningbo
At 100, Wang Yuqin, a resident of Ningbo, Zhejiang province, has jumped on the bandwagon of online shopping.
Due to the convenience of online shopping, Wang started teaching himself about it this year.
"It's never too old to learn. I want to keep up with the trends," he said. "Taobao is pretty good. It can be personalized and has a variety of goods.”
Though a newcomer to the scene, the elderly man is now familiar with all shopping procedures and has bought many snack foods, such as candy, pastries, and dried longan.
On April 8, Wang rode his tricycle to a nearby courier station to pick up his parcel – a box of pastries he had bought on the e-commerce platform Taobao several days ago. Workers at the courier station had waited at the door to help him check the pickup code and put the parcel on his tricycle.
"He is the first centenarian that I’ve ever seen pick up parcels on his own. And all these were bought by himself online. Amazing," said Niu Ermei, a worker at the station.
Obviously, it was another satisfying shopping experience for Wang.
"As senior citizens in China, we are so happy," he said while sharing his pastries with his 96-year-old wife.
