A traditional long-table banquet was held in Yunlong village, Yunlong town, Ningbo's Yinzhou district, on June 18 to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival on June 22.
The 11-meter-long table was designed in the shape of a dragon boat and was filled with 24 local signature dishes and desserts.
Yunlong town is believed to be one of the birthplaces of Chinese dragon boat culture, with the discovery of a battle-axe in the area providing evidence of dragon boat races that took place over 2,000 years ago.
The banquet, which used to be a ritual where villagers offered sacrifices for the construction or inauguration of new dragon boats, is now a chance for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the traditional food and experience folk customs. The scrumptious feast comprising of eight savory dishes and 16 tasty desserts is skillfully crafted to cater to both the participants of the local dragon boat races and the general public.
