In celebration of the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games, an exhibition is being held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, displaying odds and ends related to past Asian Games.
The exhibition kicked off in Zhouxiang town, Cixi city on July 25 and is slated to run until the end of September. The exhibition showcases China's development of modern sports and the Asian Games history through 115 exhibits, including wood carvings, photos, stamps, badges, and film posters. They are collections from Lu Jiong, deputy secretary general of the Cixi Association of Collectors.
Lu said that these collections are witness not only to the city's sports history but also to people's spirit and values at the time. And that's why he keeps collecting such items.
"The Beijing Asian Games in 1990 was a national event that required efforts from around the country. These tickets demonstrate the passion of Chinese people for the Games. And this venue atlas shows that we prepared thoroughly for the event," he said.
The two-month exhibition will be held at cultural auditoriums in villages across Zhouxiang town.
"We hope the exhibition inspires greater interest in sports among locals," said an official of the town.
