Ningbo Zhoushan Port leads nation in cargo throughput Jan-July

Ningbo Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province secured the top port position in China by achieving a cargo throughput of 789.52 million metric tons in the first seven months of this year.
The figure represented a yearly uptick of 5 percent, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Transport of China.
Meanwhile, its container throughput edged up 0.5 percent to 20.86 million TEUs, ranking second in the country.
In recent years, Ningbo Customs has implemented 20 measures to optimize the business environment and enhance cross-border trade facilitation, fully supporting the development of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Currently, the port has opened a total of 301 container shipping routes, including 249 international routes and 125 routes bound for countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
From July to July, China handled 9.62 billion tons of cargo and 180 million TEUs, up 7.8 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively, according to the ministry.
