Laowaitan, also known as the Old Bund of Ningbo, has recently been included in the third group of national demonstration pedestrian streets, as stated in a notice issued by the Ministry of Commerce.

Located alongside the Yongjiang and Yuyao rivers, Laowaitan has experienced a revival over the past three years through renovation and modernization efforts.

This popular destination now offers a wide range of attractions to cater to visitors' diverse preferences. From charming ice cream parlors and cozy waterfront restaurants to captivating evening river cruises, there is something for everyone. As the sun sets, the riverside area comes alive with the captivating sight of more than 30 illuminated buildings, picturesque waterfront promenades, and vibrant street vendors.

Aside from transforming its businesses, Laowaitan has also embraced technological advancements to become smarter and more sophisticated. The implementation of 5G technology and big data has resulted in the introduction of intelligent street lights, fire protection systems, and informative guides, all enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Additionally, the space beneath Yongjiang Bridge has been converted into a state-of-the-art exhibition hall, featuring interactive displays and command platforms that showcase the rich heritage of the century-old bund.
