Yangming Ancient Town, located in the county-level city of Yuyao in Ningbo, has recently been aglow with vibrant hues as the annual lantern fair returned to celebrate the lunar Chinese New Year.
The lantern fair is a dazzling display of meticulously designed dragon lanterns, metamorphosing Yangming Ancient Town into a lively and resplendent spectacle, radiating the festive ambiance of the Chinese New Year.
Named after Wang Yangming (1472–1529), a prominent Chinese statesman, general, and Neo-Confucian philosopher born in Yuyao, Yangming Ancient Town serves as a scenic tribute to his legacy. Wang is renowned for his doctrine of "unity of knowing and acting", often interpreted as a repudiation of the weakness of will.
