Ningbo athletes ready to shine at Paris Olympics

With the highly anticipated Paris Olympics just around the corner, 11 exceptional athletes from Ningbo, Zhejiang province are set to showcase their talent and determination to the world.

They will compete in athletics, swimming, badminton, breakdancing, weightlifting, sailing, water polo, triathlon, and sport climbing.

Wang Shun, a male swimmer born in 1994, secured a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a gold in the men's 200m individual medley at the Tokyo Olympics. This marks his fourth Olympic appearance.

Shi Zhiyong, a male weightlifter born in 1993, clinched gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, bringing home Ningbo's first Olympic gold, and repeated his success in Tokyo. The Paris Olympics will be his third Olympic bid.

Yu Yiting, a female swimmer born in 2005, placed fifth in the women's 200m individual medley and fourth in the 4x100m medley relay at the Tokyo Olympics. The Paris Olympics will mark her second Olympic appearance.

Li Ling, a female track and field athlete born in 1989, holds the Asian record for pole vault at 4.72 meters. The will be her fifth Olympic appearance.

Wang Chang, a male badminton player born in 2001, secured victories at the 2023 Sudirman Cup, 2024 Asian Championships, and Thomas Cup. Wang Chang and his partner Liang Weikeng currently rank first globally in men's doubles.

Yan Zheng, a female windsurfer born in 2001, helped secure an Olympic slot for China in the women's windsurfing event at the 2023 World Championships. She emerged victorious in this year's national windsurfing team selection trials, earning her spot in the Olympic lineup.

Wang Huan, a female water polo player born in 1997, triumphed with the Chinese team at the Hangzhou Asian Games, securing an Olympic qualification.

Lin Xinyu, a female triathlete born in 2002, is the sole female triathlon athlete representing China at the Paris Olympics.

Zhou Yafei, a female sport climber born in 2004, clinched victory in the speed climbing competition at the Paris Olympics qualification series in Shanghai and secured second place in Budapest, earning her a spot at the Olympics.

Zeng Yingying, a female breakdancer born in 1993, will make her Olympic debut in breakdancing at the Paris Olympics after qualifying through the Olympic qualification series.

Kong Yaqi, a female swimmer born in 2008, met the Olympic A standard in the women's 200m freestyle at the 2024 National Swimming Championships and Olympic trials.

These 11 athletes from Ningbo are poised to represent their city and country with pride and determination at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
