The education departments of Zhoushan and Ningbo, two neighboring cities in East China's Zhejiang province, recently signed an agreement to promote the integrated development of education.

The move came as a response to the provincial government's announcement that it would promote Ningbo-Zhoushan integration in its government report earlier this year. The aim is to provide talent and intellectual support for the integrated economic development of the two cities and drive the integrated educational development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

According to the deal, the two sides will pool educational resources, especially digital resources, and ensure that remote islands and rural areas have access to quality education resources.

Notably, the two cities will build platforms for vocational education cooperation, including educational alliances and joint training bases.

Both sides will strengthen cooperation in special education, allowing hearing-impaired children and teenagers in Zhoushan to be taught at Ningbo's special education schools, and supporting both special education schools to become sister schools.

In terms of international exchange, Zhoushan's education authorities and schools will be invited to the China-Central and Eastern European Countries education cooperation sessions in Ningbo, and Zhoushan schools will become members of the Belt and Road Industry-Education Integration Alliance established in Ningbo.
