Zhu Fangfang, an anesthetist from Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Hospital, a public hospital in Ningbo in Zhejiang province, was recently awarded by the President of Central African Republic for her contributions to local medical care.

Zhu became a member of China's 16th medical team to the Central African Republic in 2017 and worked in a friendship hospital built by China in Bangui, capital of the country.

As the only anesthetist in the 11-member team, Zhu devoted all her energy to overseeing all the  anesthesia work in the hospital over the past one and a half years.

The lack of medical supplies brought inconvenience and a heavy workload to Zhu, who even caught malaria. Fortunately, she recovered thanks to immediate treatment.

In addition to normal surgery, Zhu also provided free pain-relief treatment to locals, and trained local anesthetists on some advanced anesthesia skills.
