Ningbo companies tap business opportunities at CIIE

A Ningbo delegation composed of 4,135 companies and 10,109 individuals will attend the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) on Nov 5 in Shanghai.

The number of registered companies and individuals from the city which are attending the event rank first in East China's Zhejiang province.

NingShing Ubay international trade Co, a Ningbo-based cross-border e-commerce trader, is attending the expo in search of business opportunities.

Last year, the company's imports amounted to 2.5 billion yuan ($373.13 million), and at the first CIIE alone, it reached deals worth 700 million yuan focusing on Japanese cosmetics and daily necessities, according to Shi Chenjia, general manager of the company.

Shi said that NingShing Ubay will participate in the exhibition not only as a buyer but also as an exhibitor, adding that the company's imports are expected to exceed four billion yuan this year with the help of CIIE.

An official from the Ningbo municipal bureau of commerce said that the city will hold a series of activities at the expo to promote local customs policies and cement economic links between local enterprises and those from BRI countries.

Ningbo will also invite attendees to visit Ningbo. The Indonesian food exhibitor delegation led by the minister of trade of Indonesia has decided to visit Ningbo and participate in the Ningbo - Indonesia Economic and Trade Forum on the heels of CIIE.

The city's imports surged 4.3 percent year-on-year to 236.89 billion yuan from January to September, accounting for 2.27 percent of the nation's total, as per statistics released by the Ningbo municipal bureau of commerce.
