Ninghai's gross domestic product (GDP) climbed 3.4 percent year-on-year to 72.25 billion yuan ($11.12billion) in 2020, according to preliminary statistics released by local authorities.
The added value of the county's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 4.82 billion yuan, 35.48 billion yuan, and 31.96 billion yuan respectively, growing 2.5 percent, 2.4 percent, and 4.6 percent.
Per capita disposable income among urban residents was 64,188 yuan, up 5.2 percent year-on-year, while the figure for rural residents was 36,166 yuan, an uptick of 6.8 percent.
Ninghai governs four sub-districts, 11 towns and three townships — Yuelong sub-district, Taoyuan sub-district, Meilin sub-district, and Qiaotouhu sub-district; Changjie town, Liyang town, Yishi town, Chalu town, Qiantong town, Sangzhou town, Huangtan town, Dajiahe town, Qiangjiao town, Xidian town, and Shenzhen town; Huchen township, Chayuan township and Yuexi township.
In September 2019, Ninghai was designated a national "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zone.
In October of the same year, it ranked among the top 100 counties nationwide in terms of comprehensive strength.
It was also listed among the top 100 counties across the nation in terms of business climate and tourism development.
In the same month, the county was designated as a national pilot area in implementing the "Two Mountain" Theory.
