Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province was recently adorned with nearly 30,000 pots of violets in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

The floral displays are primarily located near Tianyi Square, a commercial block in downtown Ningbo.

Sun Lijun, a senior horticulturist at the Haishu Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, said that violets are biennial or perennial herbs that come from Europe, and in recent years, violets of various colors have often been used during festivals.

In addition to violets, other floral displays will soon be set up in the city before the New Year's Eve, according to an official at the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Comprehensive Law Enforcement.
