Investment worth 67 billion yuan ($9.64 billion) will flow to Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, following the successful signing of 30 contracts at a meeting in Beijing on Dec 16.

Officials in Ningbo feel the city will benefit from cooperation with Beijing due to the capital's advantages in science and technology, information and skilled workers. The investment and cooperation meeting, initiated by Ningbo, was designed to attract investment from Beijing-based State-owned corporations, high-tech equipment manufacturing companies, research institutions and financial institutions.

The environment for investment and development in Ningbo was introduced to the attendees, as well as projects involving the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

This time, more efforts will be made to boost the development of the city, according to the successfully signed contracts. The municipal government established a strategic partnership with the Chinese Academy of Science Holdings Co Ltd and China Chengtong Holdings Group at the meeting. CITIC Group will invest 10 billion yuan to build China's first "Cloud City" in Yuyao, and a tourist town in Dongqian Lake scenic area will be constructed with the support of Bloomage International Investment Group.

The cultural and creative industries in Ningbo also had an unexpected boost in Beijing, with a total contract volume of 23.85 billion yuan agreed. A group of promising high-tech and culture-related projects from Ningbo also aroused investors' interest.

Ningbo, where the famous Chinese philosopher and psychologist Wang Yangming was born, is going to build a specially-themed town featuring the life and thoughts of the sage, according to an agreement with a cultural investment company.

In addition, China's leading real estate developer, Wanke, will work with Ningbo Daily, to integrate the resources of schools, training agencies, shops and parent-children projects for the city's first educational complex – "C-park".
