The 2019 Ningbo International Piano Art Festival kicked off at Bodi Inshow Theater in Zhejiang province on Aug 8.

As a sideline event of the first Beilun Youth Cultural Festival, the three-day-festival included activities such as a piano masters' lesson, open class, music forum, music street of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and a music festival.

Mo Zhiwei, an 80-year-old online celebrity from Ningbo, played a piano solo and announced that she will donate 10 public pianos to Ningbo as her birthday wish.

Additionally, many international celebrities performed at the festival, such as Swedish piano master Robert Wells, well-known Swedish pianist Alice Power, Swedish music drama singer Johan Boding, and Chinese singer Cai Dasheng.

Liu Yuanjing, graduate student of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, is a native in Beilun. She said that music was a good way to pass time and interact with others during her six years studying abroad in Poland.

A special program is also set to honor Ningbo pianist Wu Yili, who just passed away this year.
