First cured COVID-19 patients discharged in Ningbo
A confirmed COVID-19 case in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province was discharged from a hospital after recovering on Dec 19. It is the first case to be discharged from a hospital in the city during the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Zhenhai district.
The case is a seven-year-old girl named Jiu Er (pseudonym), who was sent to the hospital on Dec 7 when she tested positive after a four-day cough.
According to Zheng Nanhong, a doctor at Ningbo Huamei Hospital, the girl’s body temperature has been normal for 13 consecutive days and she shows no related symptoms. She was discharged from the hospital after testing negative twice in two nuclei acid tests that were administered at least 24 hours apart.
Jiu Er will undergo a 14-day medical observation at a designated isolated site and receive nucleic acid testing again before she returns home and resumes her normal life.
"We incorporated western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine in our treatment of COVID-19 patients in Ningbo to maximize efficacy," said Zheng. Two traditional Chinese medicine doctors have been working at the designated hospital.
Also on Dec 19, the only patient with severe COVID-19 symptoms in the city began to show regular symptoms after undergoing treatment.
As of 6 pm on Dec 19, Ningbo had reported 74 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
