Ningbo's first offshore wind farm was put into operation on Dec 23.
Situated in Hepu town, Xiangshan county, the Xiangshan No 1 wind farm has 41 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 254,200 kilowatts.
The farm is connected to the grid via a 5-kilometer-long line and is powered by a 220 KV offshore booster station.
The farm is currently able to supply 700 million kilowatt-hours of electricity - equivalent to burning 233,000 metric tons of coal - to the power grid a year and reduce emissions by 477,000 tons.
The 4.4-billion-yuan ($676.9 million) wind farm is owned by GD Power Development Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Energy. Construction of the farm started on Dec 25, 2020.
