Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has been promoting a digital code to serve talents as part of its efforts to attract skilled workers.
The "Ningbo Talent Code" integrates more than 30 services centering on government affairs, work, and life.
"Ningbo has been seeking ways to better serve skilled workers,” said an official at the Talent Office of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee. The city focuses on offering comprehensive and considerate services closely related to the daily lives of skilled workers, such as housing, healthcare, children's education, transportation, and recreation.
To date, more than 200,000 people are included in the Ningbo Talent Pool and the code has been used over 600,000 times in 2021.
Recently, nearly 500 college students and skilled workers in Haishu district received living allowances by using the code, instead of spending time lining up to apply at offline sites.
A doctor surnamed Lyu, a skilled worker in the Ningbo Talent Pool, praised the convenience of the code.
"Using the code, I can spend only 0.01 yuan (less than a cent) on taking public transport, get free tickets to many scenic spots, and enjoy free access to the VIP lounges at Ningbo Lishe International Airport and many gyms. All I need to do is to scan the code on my phone," Lyu said.
