Dongliu Street in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province has been transformed into an artistic leisure area for residents after a month of renovations.

Dongliu Market, the largest market on the street and built in 1997, and its adjacent area are the focus of the renovation project. The market has been upgraded with new drainage facilities.

The 300-meter road to the market was also renovated. Decorations on storefronts have been unified, and murals about vegetables have been painted on the wall along the road.

To benefit residents who drive to the market, parking spots were added, while benches were also placed along the road.

In addition, a "road gallery" was launched in the area, featuring photos of the daily lives of local merchants and residents. The photos were taken by a white-collar worker who has been working near the market for five years.

"I am familiar with Dongliu Market. I have breakfast at the market almost every day," said the photographer.

The market also holds many memories of the merchants and residents.

The 65-year-old Qian Lichun has been running a baozi shop at Dongliu Market for 25 years. The no-more-than-20-square-meter shop is popular among residents.

Gan Shunxiang, owner of a watch-repair shop, has been working with his son at the market for more than 20 years. They also provide free watch repair services for impoverished families.
