As a co-host city of the 19th Asian Games, Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province is set to host the Games' sailing events and beach volleyball events.

The two stadiums in the coastal county of Xiangshan that will host these sports passed the evaluations by the Games' organizing committee on March 31.

The Asian Games Sailing Center

The Asian Games Sailing Center is the venue for the sailing competitions of the 19th Asian Games in 2022. Unlike other Asian Games venues, half of the center is located on land, while the other half is on the sea.

Representing a total investment of roughly 600 million yuan ($92.3 million), the center is the first sports venue in Zhejiang qualified to host international A-level sports competitions.                                    

The sailing competitions of the 14th National Games, which featured about 500 athletes from 20 teams across the country, were held in the center last September.

This year, about 210 athletes from 19 countries and regions will compete for 14 gold medals at the Asian Games sailing events.

Ningbo Banbian Mountain Beach Volleyball Center

Situated in the Banbian Mountain Tourism Resort in Xiangshan, the beach volleyball venue for the 19th Asian Games comprises a C-shaped semi-open sports stadium that faces the sea. The 4,400-square-meter stadium can accommodate 2,000 spectators.

In May, the stadium will host the National Beach Volleyball Grand Slam.

In September, 164 athletes from 25 countries and regions will compete for two gold medals at the Asian Games' beach volleyball competition.

After the conclusion of the Asian Games, the stadium will serve as an integral part of sports facilities in the resort.
