A roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) ship loaded with 70 buses manufactured by Anhui Ankai Automobile Co Ltd will leave Ningbo Zhoushan Port for Mexico today, local media reported.

This is the largest order of Chinese buses from Mexico to date, according to Yang Weikang, project manager of Ningbo Mingsheng Supply Chain Management Co Ltd.

The 70 buses are expected to arrive at their destination after about 20 days.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the world' largest port by cargo throughput volume, has seen a surge in ro-ro car exports in recent years.

Official statistics from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Maritime Affairs show that the port in East China's Zhejiang province handled more than 83,600 cars via ro-ro ships in the first quarter of this year, up 3.2 percent year-on-year.

Among them, exports of cars via the ro-ro shipping at the port surpassed 14,700, double the amount from the same period last year.
