A large-scale public relations campaign launched by Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on March 2 has born fruitful results, local media reported.
The campaign, titled "Ningbo, Setting Sail to Embrace the World", involves eight world renowned coastal cities including Osaka in Japan, Hamburg in Germany, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, New York in the United States and Busan in South Korea.
The campaign includes interviews, exchange visits and cross-media reporting, and comes as part of the city's efforts to become a modern coastal metropolis and promote mutual communication between coastal cities around the world.
Over the past 2 months, 40-plus high-profile leaders including Peter Thomson, the United Nations Secretary General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, were interviewed by the organizers.
Thomson stated that coastal cities are critical to preserving the well-being of the ocean and must participate in the renewable energy revolution, expressing hope that Ningbo serve as an example in this regard and be part of a movement around the world to restore the human-ocean relationship to one of respect and balance. He also expects the Ningbo Zhoushan Port to be a pioneer in the decarbonization of shipping.
As of the beginning of this month, over 1,000 media outlets overseas had collected and forwarded reports related to the campaign, reaching nearly 100 million viewers worldwide.
