The Asia Conference on Marine Tourism 2022 will be held in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang province from July 12 to 14, organizers announced at a news conference on July 6.
Themed "Promoting the Development of Asia and Sharing the Marine Economy", the conference is sponsored by the Bureau of International Exchanges and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Ningbo Municipal People's Government.
Nearly 200 people including diplomats, government officials, experts and scholars who specialize in marine tourism are expected to participate in the event.
The conference aims to build a platform for maritime cultural tourism exchanges and cooperation between Asian countries and promote the steady recovery of tourism in Asia, said Qiu Jinyue, deputy director of Ningbo Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism.
The China Diving & Salvage Contractors Association will also inaugurate a leisure diving base in Ningbo's coastal county of Xiangshan on the sidelines of the event.
Ningbo, which is located at the intersection of China's Grand Canal and the Maritime Silk Road, has a long maritime history spanning more than 8,000 years. The local government has in recent years set the goal of developing the city into a modern coastal metropolis and a global maritime hub.
