Ningbo has achieved outstanding accomplishments in improving people's wellbeing since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

In 2021, the city in East China's Zhejiang was again included in Oriental Outlook magazine's ranking of the happiest cities in China. This was the 12th time the city won the honor.

Over the past decade, Ningbo has posted a stable uptick in residents' income and excellent performances in urban-rural construction and public services.

The per capita disposable income of its urban residents was 73,869 yuan ($11,364) in 2021, while the figure for rural residents was 42,946 yuan. The urban-rural income ratio had narrowed to 1.72 and all of the villages in Ningbo had an annual collective income of over 300,000 yuan, according to official data.

As of 2021, five metro lines with a total length of 183 kilometers had been opened in Ningbo after the first one was put into operation in May 2014.

In addition, more than 1,900 kilometers of greenways had been built as of August this year.

Accessibility to healthcare services has also been greatly enhanced. Official statistics show that over 1.7 million residents in the city have access to family doctors.
