Ningbo's Xiangshan county was recently shortlisted as a national model county for rural vitalization by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Four county-level areas across Zhejiang won the honor. Xiangshan is the only place in Ningbo that was shortlisted.
This recognition comes on the back of the county's notable accomplishments in rural development in recent years. Official data show that the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in Xiangshan reached 15.26 billion yuan ($2.34 billion) in 2021, ranking second in Zhejiang.
The local government has set a number of rural development goals that it aims to achieve in the years to come.
Two of the goals are boosting agricultural labor productivity to 120,000 yuan per person and lifting the per capita disposable income to more than 50,000 yuan.
Authorities also aim to have over 90 percent of villages generate an annual operating revenue of 500,000 yuan, build over 100 villages into "provincial beautiful villages" and upgrade more than a dozen villages into "provincial future villages".
In addition, efforts will be made to improve the level of democracy and rural governance and boost agricultural technological applications.
