2022 Maritime Silk Road Culture, Travel Expo to open in Ningbo
The 2022 Maritime Silk Road Culture and Travel Expo will be held in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province from Nov 18 to 21, local media reported.
The expo, which is sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Ningbo Municipal People's Government, will see businesses from countries along the Maritime Silk Road showcase a dazzling assortment of cultural and tourism products online.
The expo will coincide with ninth Ningbo Civic Culture and Art Festival, during which 150-plus cultural events are expected to be held across the city.
For example, a cultural and creative contest, which aims to solicit design works for the city's logos and souvenirs from around the globe, will be launched on Nov 17. That same day, an exhibition featuring 40 top French handicrafts will open in the city.
A dialogue attended by curators of Italy's Laurentian Medici Library and the Malatesta Novello Library as well as Tianyi Pavilion, all of which are listed among the oldest existing libraries in the world, will be staged a day later.
The Sino-German Chess Invitational Tournament and the fourth National (Ningbo) Comprehensive Materials Painting Biennial will also be held during the expo period.
In addition, more than 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) worth of coupons will be released during the expo to stimulate consumption in the local cultural and tourism market.
Since its inception in 2016, the Maritime Silk Road Culture and Travel Expo has garnered over 1.4 million offline visitors as well as more than 110 million online views. Around 4,200 enterprises from more than 40 countries and regions worldwide have participated in the exhibition, resulting in over 2 billion yuan in turnover.
