Business trip bears fruitful results

A government delegation headed by Tang Feifan, mayor of Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, recently embarked a tour of three European countries to attract investment.

The delegation visited Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom from Feb 8 to 17, during which it secured five investment projects with a combined value of $1.29 billion.

In Austria, the first stop of the trip, Tang explored cooperation opportunities with companies including Borouge, Voestalpine and Linde.

Over in Germany, the mayor visited companies like BASF and Messer as well as promoted Ningbo's business climate to another 30 locally renowned enterprises at a meeting held in Frankfurt.

During the trip's last stop, Tang visited Ineos, a British petrochemical company which plans to expand its investment in Ningbo after it had selected the city as its first investment destination in China.

He also attended a seminar with representatives from nearly 20 British companies and sought cooperation possibilities with them in finance, insurance, shipping, logistics and biomedicine.

In addition, during the 10-day period, Tang held meetings with local government officials as well as Chinese diplomats in these countries.
