More than 280 residential communities - over 40 percent of the total in Ningbo's urban areas - will be developed into "future communities" by the end of 2025, according to an action plan recently released by authorities.
The concept of a "future community", which was mentioned in a provincial government report released in 2019, refers to an urban development project that aims to make cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly and digital.
To date, 132 residential communities in Ningbo have been included in the provincial program. Thirty-seven of them will be rebuilt while the rest will be renovated. Twenty have completed reconstruction or upgrading.
This year, the local government has set the goal of building more than 50 such communities, bringing the total number of such places in the city to over 180.
