Ningbo's imports from CEEC up 84.9% in Jan-Feb
Ningbo's imports from Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) were valued at 2.69 billion yuan ($386.49 million) in the first two months of this year, rising by a whopping 84.9 percent year-on-year, official data from Ningbo Customs show.
The imports from CEEC during the two-month period were primarily automobiles, raw materials like copper, agricultural products, cosmetics and toiletries.
Ningbo imported 1.86 billion yuan worth of automobiles (including chassis) from CEEC, 1.8 times that of the same period in 2022.
Chen Yi, president of Ningbo Dijia VIDA Trading Co Ltd, said the company had carefully selected some famous products for import, such as Romanian beauty brand Gerovital's moisturizing essence and wrinkle-removing cream, which are often presented as national gifts in these countries.
During the past two months, Ningbo's imports of cosmetics and toiletries from CEEC hit 1.39 million yuan, according to Ningbo Customs.
Ningbo has streamlined customs clearance procedures for CEEC commodities, which has partly fueled the robust growth in imports, as it is building itself into a demonstration area for China-CEEC economic and trade cooperation.
The third edition of China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair is slated to be held in the city from May 16 to 20.
