Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group included in 'world-class enterprise' program

Seven State-owned companies were recently included in a national program launched by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council to develop world-class enterprises.

According to SASAC, world-class enterprises refer to those with strong international operation capability and core competitiveness. They should also play an fundamental role in resource allocation and have a prominent influence on the development of their industries.

Among the seven newcomers is Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group Co Ltd, the operator of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province handled 1.25 billion metric tons of cargo in 2022, topping the global rankings for the 14th straight year. The port's container throughput volume reached 33.35 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the past year and was ranked third globally.

In September 2021, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group won the China Quality Award (CQA), becoming the first port operator from the country to win the award. The CQA, which is conferred by the State Administration for Market Regulation every two years, is the highest honor in the field of quality management in China.
