Ningbo sees improved environmental quality in 2022

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recorded significant improvements in environmental quality in 2022, according to a report published by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment on the occasion of World Environment Day celebrated on June 5.
The city had an exceptional performance, with 325 days of good air quality in its central urban area, ranking 17th among 168 monitored cities nationwide, a three-slot increase from the previous year.
The quality of surface water in the municipal control section improved by 5.4 percentage points, reaching 93.6 percent, and all centralized drinking water sources at or above the county level met national standards.
Ningbo also achieved the highest level of improvement in offshore water quality since monitoring began, surpassing Zhejiang's other cities, according to the bureau.
In terms of the acoustic environment, 99.1 percent of Ningbo's functional areas met daytime standards, and 93.1 percent met nighttime standards. Additionally, road traffic noise in the urban areas remained stable at an average of 67.2 decibels during the daytime, official statistics show.
