Ningbo excels in 'Beautiful Zhejiang' assessment

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has received an "excellent" rating in the provincial assessment for its implementation of the "Beautiful Zhejiang" campaign in 2022, as announced by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment.

In addition, four administrative areas within Ningbo - Haishu district, Beilun district, Ninghai county, and Xiangshan county - also achieved the same rating in the evaluation.

The "Beautiful Zhejiang" campaign was initiated by Zhejiang province in 2016 with the aim of sprucing up the environment throughout the region.

According to a report published by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment on World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5 every year, Ningbo saw significant improvements in environmental quality in 2022.

The city's central urban area experienced 325 days of good air quality, ranking 17th among 168 monitored cities nationwide, three spots higher than the previous year.

The surface water quality in the municipal control section showed a 5.4 percentage point increase, reaching 93.6 percent. Furthermore, all centralized drinking water sources at or above the county level met national standards.

Ningbo also achieved the highest level of improvement in offshore water quality among all cities in Zhejiang, as revealed by the municipal bureau.
