A vessel named Ever Breed, of the Evergreen Marine Corp fleet, successfully docked at the No 9 berth of Meishan terminal at the Ningbo Zhoushan Port on Aug 13, marking the first docking since the berth gained temporary authorization to open for foreign ships.
Situated on Meishan Island in Beilun district, Ningbo, the terminal boasts 10 dedicated container berths and one berth for automobile roll-on/roll-off operations. With a total shoreline length of 4,400 meters, it has the most pieces of large-scale equipment within the Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
The No 9 berth is part of the country's highest-rated container terminal currently under construction. It is responsible for facilitating the transshipment and transportation of foreign trade goods in the province and areas along the Yangtze River.
Measuring 412.5 meters in length and with a depth of 17.1 meters, the berth is designed to accommodate container vessels of up to 150,000 tons. It commenced trial operations on June 10, 2022 and has served over 710 domestic vessels as of August 10 this year and handled 375,000 standard containers.
The temporary authorization to open the berth for international vessels is set to play a vital role in enhancing Meishan terminal's capacity.
