University offers rooms for job-seeking graduates
The Ningbo University of Technology in Ningbo, Zhejiang province launched the "Home of Graduates" in 2020, and has offered affordable rooms for more than 500 graduates.
The university transformed two dormitory buildings into apartments equipped with shared kitchens and laundry rooms. The two buildings include over 100 single and double rooms. Each room is installed with an intelligent door lock and a smart meter.
The "Home of Graduates" is available to the university's graduates who are seeking jobs in Ningbo. They can live there for up to a year after the graduation. Rent ranges from 100 yuan ($13) to 350 yuan a month.
Over the past three years, more than 500 graduates have lived in the "Home of Graduates".
Lin Hongye, a fresh graduate of the university, recently rented a double room with his classmate.
"I spent 2,300 yuan on rent every month during my internship. It's a financial burden for me. That's why I applied for a room at the 'Home of Graduates' immediately after graduating. It costs just 175 yuan a month," said Lin.
"It's a new way to help graduates. We also plan to improve the facilities and our services," said Ye Renze, director of the university's student affairs office.
