Xiangshan calls for young to promote marine industry

Xiangshan county in Ningbo, Zhejiang province has been seeking more ways to attract young people and leveraging their talent to promote the development of marine industry.

The coastal county launched a talent program entitled "Youth and Sea" in 2022, targeting young workers, scholars, and graduates. Under the program, 13 activities have been launched and attracted more than 6,700 young people.

To calls out to more young talent, the Seventh China (Xiangshan) Marine Forum and 2023 "Youth and Sea" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference kicked off in Xiangshan on Oct 8 and is slated to run until Oct 15.

The event aims to promote the development of the county's marine economy through five parts: science and technology, art, sports, ecology, and tourism.

Ten young scientists were awarded at the opening ceremony for their contribution to the marine industry.

Twelve winners of a young talent entrepreneurship contest were also announced at the ceremony. After the winning projects come to fruition in Xiangshan, a total of 32-million-yuan ($4 million) prize will be distributed to the winners, with the highest prize being 6 million yuan.
