Digital economy conference sees fruitful results

The 2023 World Digital Economy Conference & 13th China Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo concluded on Oct 15 in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province.
Over the course of three days, the conference gathered more than 200 experts and shcolars in the field of digital economy. Notable participants included Peter Major, vice-chairman of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development, Zhou Ji and Pan Yunhe, both academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as Wang Jianyu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Together, they tackled various topics related to new industrialization, intelligent manufacturing, and computing infrastructure.
One of the highlights of the event was the signing of 40 investment projects that will be established in Ningbo, amounting to more than 30 billion yuan ($4.1 billion) in total value. This signifies the confidence and interest of investors in the city as a hub for the development of the digital economy.
Ningbo, as the host city, has been at the forefront of digital economy growth in China. In 2022, the city's digital economy added value exceeded 800 billion yuan, accounting for more than 51 percent of its total GDP. A ranking released by market research firm CCID Consulting named Ningbo as a new first-tier city in China in terms of the development of the digital economy in 2022.
