Ningbo's foreign trade volume hits 955.1b yuan Q1-3

Ningbo's imports and exports were valued at 995.1 billion yuan ($136.07 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, according to official statistics from Ningbo Customs.

Specifically, its exports totaled 628.52 billion yuan, edging up 0.7 percent year-on-year, while its import volume amounted to 326.58 billion yuan.

Private enterprises were still the main engine driving the city's foreign trade growth over the nine-month period.

From January to September, imports and exports of private enterprises from Ningbo grew 4.1 percent year-on-year to 710 billion yuan, accounting for 75.1 percent of the city's total.      

The city's top three trading partners during this period were the European Union, the United States, and ASEAN. Its trade with these economies was valued at 163.8 billion yuan, 159.2 billion yuan, and 110 billion yuan, respectively.

In addition, the city's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative rose 5.4 percent to 421.34 billion yuan, making up 44 percent of its total trade.

Over the period, Ningbo's trade volume with the CEECs hit 37.85 billion yuan, up 12.9 percent year-on-year.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products topped 350 billion yuan, up 2.3 percent and accounting for more than 50 percent of the city's total exports.

Imports of consumer products grew by 5.2 percent to nearly 33 billion yuan in the first nine months. Passenger cars, edible aquatic products, edible oils, alcohol and beverages imported by the city saw a year-on-year uptick of 36 percent, 203 percent, 42 percent and 37 percent, respectively.
