In celebration of the Double Ninth Festival, which fell on Oct 23 this year, a group of seniors gathered at a residential community in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on Oct 21 for their first show as members of senior clubs.

The show was staged in Yanhe Community in the city's Beilun district. Most performances were given by clubs in the community, including a dancing club, an opera club, a chorus, and an aerobics club. The members of these clubs are all elderly residents.

Lu Ahong left Ningxia Hui autonomous region for Beilun district in Ningbo 17 years ago. Unfamiliar with the local dialect and living environment, she was lonely at first. But this changed when she met a woman surnamed Wang, who shared an interest in aerobics with Lu.

They decided to establish an aerobics club, which later attracted many aerobics enthusiasts around their age.

To find more seniors with common interests and help them enrich their lives, workers in the community always take three sheets - a sheet for needs, a sheer for available resources, and a sheet for projects – with them while visiting local residents.

"Now the service is available for residents of all ages. We want to create a lively and diverse community that brings like-minded people together," said Chen Hongping, Party secretary of Yanhe Community.
