Ningbo Zhoushan Port has achieved a significant milestone by exceeding 30 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in container throughput in the first 10 months of this year. This remarkable feat follows the port's accomplishment in surpassing 1 billion metric tons of cargo throughput in the preceding nine months.
The port's success can be attributed to its extensive network of more than 300 container shipping routes, including 129 routes serving countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). This has led to exceptional stability and connectivity of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
In addition, the port has proactively expanded its multimodal transportation logistics channels, effectively linking the hinterlands in China's central and western regions. As a result, it is projected that the sea-rail combined transportation volume at the port will increase by 12.1 percent compared to the previous year during the first 10 months.
The utilization of remote, unmanned, and automated operations has also been instrumental in the port's growth. Consequently, it has emerged as one of the most efficient ports in terms of operational efficiency, not only domestically but also internationally.
