Ningbo receives record number of visitors over Spring Festival holiday

Ningbo welcomed Chinese New Year with over 1,000 festive activities, bringing joy to both residents and visitors alike.

During the 8-day holiday, Ningbo attracted a record-breaking 8.75 million tourists, generating over 10 billion yuan ($1.37 billion) in revenue, setting new historical highs on both counts.

The city's Spring Festival activities highlighted local characteristics and strengthened the festive spirit. In Jiangbei district's Cicheng town, its New Year event included a fair market, interactive national-style events, live performances, and creative lanterns. Xiangshan Film and Television City hosted over 100 performances, including lion dances, music and opera performances, and temple fair parades.

Before the holiday, Ningbo issued 12 million yuan in cultural and tourism vouchers, which can be used for performances, scenic tours, and hotel accommodations. Hundreds of tourism hotels offered limited-time 50-percent discounts on rooms, 40-percent discounts on buffets, and package deals.

During the Spring Festival, nearly 5-million-yuan-worth of vouchers were redeemed, leading to transactions worth nearly 20 million yuan.

Ningbo's Spring Festival holiday also introduced new experiences powered by advanced technology this year. A stunning light show at Sanjiangkou used particle effects and 3D animation to illuminate Ningbo's rich history and modern charm.  In Xikou town, Fenghua district, 1,000 drones lit up the sky, while bamboo raft performances on the Shanxi River captivated visitors.
