A group of staff and volunteers from Tianyige Library in Ningbo helped a boy, confined to his bed due to illness, fulfill his wish to visit the library on August 17.

The 13-year-old Li Jinrun has been suffering from a rare disease for many years, which has rendered him unable to walk or sit. Li is confined to his bed all day long, but enjoys reading, and has long dreamed of visiting Tianyige Library, the oldest private library in Asia.

To help Li realize his dream, the staff of Tianyige Library provided a door-to-door service on August 17. They visited Li at his home, showing him a guide video made just for him.

During the one-hour introduction, Zhang Bo, who works at the library, asked many times whether Li wanted to rest, but he refused, saying "don't stop. I want to hear it all.”

"This is the first time that we have offered door-to-door services," said Zhang, "I was touched by his passion for the library. I want to introduce him to stories and landscapes from the library in person so that he can ask me anything he wants.”

Li also received gifts from the workers, including a script and a video of an opera about Tianyige as well as Tianyige-themed stationery.
