Man works tirelessly to aid in typhoon preparation

Qiu Caiding, a 63-year-old resident of Qita Community in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province has been working tirelessly to prepare for Typhoon Chanthu since September 12.

Ningbo upgraded its emergency response to the highest level in preparation at 12 am Sunday as Chanthu, the 14th typhoon of the year, is expected to make landfall in the coastal areas of Zhejiang province and bring heavy rainfalls to the city on Monday and Tuesday.

Qiu Caiding wasted no time in join the community's typhoon preparation efforts. He patrolled the community spreading awareness of the typhoon and how to stay safe to other residents.

He checked every corner of the community to identify potential dangers, such as falling objects. He kept saying , "I want to check again to see if there's anything I missed.”

Having ensured that there were no security concerns, he joined the younger volunteers in carrying and piling sandbags to stave off potential flooding.

As of 8 pm Sunday, Qiu had spent more than six hours helping prepare the community for the approaching typhoon.
